Introduction
Hitachiin Hikaru and Hitachiin Kaoru are a pair of identical twins from the anime and manga series Ouran Koukou Host Club (known as Ouran High School Host Club in the US). As a host, Hikaru and Kaoru are considered the "Little Devil" type due to their mischievous personalities. They also bring to the table the element of taboo, providing their customers with playful displays of brotherly love.This section is merely a holding page for the goodies I have to come. I plan on adding in individual profiles, explinations of the different aspects of their relationship, how to tell the two of them apart, along with articles on identical twins and how that information relates to them and their impact on the series. Why?
Why do I love Hikaru and Kaoru's relationship? Not the for the reaons you might think. It's not the boy love factor, not their micheivious nature, nor is it their tendency to make make me laugh. It is the closeness in their relationship that amazes me. Here is a snppet taken from my fanlisting application...
The relationship between twins has always fascinated me, that almost impossible closeness that only two individuals that are born but minutes part can experience. So naturally, Hikaru and Kaoru became a big object of my attention when either reading or watching Ouran. And it is that closeness that makes them so different from any other pair of characters I’ve ever witnessed. First of all, they can speak and move in perfect unison, which shows me, that when they want to, how deeply in sync that can be. These two are so close to one another that they can still sleep in the same bed together, in their late teens, and not feel ashamed about it. They can switch places almost seamlessly, knowing the other so well that they can fool everyone around them (except Haruhi of course). The pair can shout and throw things at one another, all in good fun without either being hurt emotionally. And the fact that the two can displaying their little act of being romantically involved with one another without even batting an eye, speaks volumes about their closeness as well. And I LOVE that. It’s that closeness that they use as a shield to protect them from the rest the world. That closeness is the foundation for their own small world, the one they created just for the two of them. And I cannot get over how amazing that is...
That summarizes my feelings a little bit anyway. Hikaru and Kaoru are precious to me because their relationship is not one grounded in a romantic sense, but holds more love than most any other pairing I can think of. ♥
